Kurt Overhoff
Kurt Overhoff (born October 20, 1902 in Vienna , † November 16, 1986 in Salzburg ) was an Austrian conductor, composer and music teacher.
Life
Kurt Overhoff was Wilhelm Furtwängler's assistant in 1928/29 . From 1932 to 1940 he was general music director in Heidelberg . He had close contacts with the descendants of Richard Wagner , so from 1940 he was responsible for the musical education of Wieland Wagner . From 1947 to 1950 he was involved in building up the Bayreuth Symphony Orchestra .
After a long stay in the United States, he was professor at the Mozarteum in Salzburg from 1962 to 1973 .
