Kurt Pfläging

Kurt Pfläging (born June 18, 1934 ; † January 9, 2012 ) was a doctor of engineering, former mine surveyor and an author of fundamental works on the Ruhr mining industry .

Pfläging mainly dealt with the beginnings of mining, the mining history in the southern Ruhr area and the role of Heinrich Friedrich Karl vom Stein . He lived in Hattingen and is committed, among other things, to the preservation of the Malakow tower of the Alte Haase colliery .
