Kurt Schoenen

Kurt Schoenen (born February 2, 1943 in Saarlouis ) is a German politician ( CDU ).

Life

Schoenen graduated from high school in 1962 and then studied at the Saarbrücken University of Education . After his exams in 1965, he was initially a primary school teacher in Berus and Altforweiler . At Saarland University , he began studying German and history, which he completed in 1974 with the state examination. He then taught at the Max Planck Gymnasium in Saarlouis until 1983 and was director of studies and deputy headmaster at the Robert Schuman Gymnasium in Saarlouis in 1983/84 .

Kurt Schoenen is a Roman Catholic. He is married and has two daughters, including the chanson singer Anne Schoenen.

Schoenen has been a member of the CDU since 1968. From 1972 to 1978 he was district chairman of the Junge Union Saarlouis . From 1977 to 1991 he was deputy district chairman and then until 2000 district chairman of the CDU Saarlouis. He also held the local chairmanship of the CDU in Altforweiler from 1975 to 1990.

He was a member of the municipality council of Überherrn from 1974 to 1991 (since 1981 as parliamentary group chairman). In July 1984 he was able to move up for Alfred Wilhelm in the Saarland state parliament , to which he was re-elected four times in a row. During his last legislative period (1999-2004) he held the office of Vice-President in Parliament.

Schoenen has been Saarland's state chairman of the Volksbund German War Graves Commission since 2001 . He is also chairman of the Saarlouis roundabout watch and was a member of the media council of the state media authority in Saarland . Since 2008 he has been president of the Europa-Denkmal-Berus eV
