Kurt Sigrist
Kurt Sigrist (born November 16, 1943 in Sachseln ) is a Swiss sculptor , object artist and draftsman from the canton of Obwalden .
Life
Kurt Sigrist is the son of Christian Sigrist (1906–1987), whose carved models are exhibited in the Brother Klaus Museum in Sachseln under the title “Miniatures to remember everyday rural life” .
Sigrist studied from 1960 to 1965 at the Lucerne School of Applied Arts and until 1967 at the University of Fine Arts in Hamburg . In 1969 he stayed at Alp Seefeld. In 1977 Sigrist was the Swiss representative at the São Paulo Biennale together with Markus Raetz and Samuel Buri . In 1980 there were exhibitions with room installations in the Kunstmuseum Luzern and Kunsthaus Zürich. In 1981 he was the artistic director of the exhibition Niklaus von Flüe in honor of the Swiss national saint Niklaus von Flüe in the Brother Klaus Museum in Sachseln. In 1993 he received the Central Switzerland Culture Prize . In 1991 he made a trip to Indonesia and stayed in Bali. In 1995 an exhibition followed in the Helmhaus Zurich with space-related, accessible wooden objects; at the same time the first monograph was published. In 1996 he made a trip through the countries on the southern slopes of the Himalayas. He lost many works and work documents in 2005 when his house and studio were flooded.
Kurt Sigrist created around 30 choir room designs in Switzerland and Germany, often in collaboration with Godi Hirschi , among others for the churches and sacred rooms in the Hofkirche Luzern , in the Fischingen monastery church , for the St. Benno town church in Munich, for the Engelberg monastery church , for the Carmelite monastery in Wemding and for the Hergiswald pilgrimage church . The monograph Kurt Sgrist was published in 2013 . Space - sculpture with texts by Beat Stutzer and an afterword by Friedhelm Mennekes.
