Kurt Veth

Kurt Veth (* 1930 ; † November 18, 2012 in Dresden ) was a German director and screenwriter .

Life

Kurt Veth worked as a theater director at the Maxim-Gorki-Theater in Berlin, among others . In the mid-1960s he worked as a director for television in the GDR , and from the mid-1970s as a screenwriter. Occasionally he also appeared as an actor.

Among his films, the five-part Luther series on the 500th birthday of Martin Luther is of particular importance. His last television work was a film about Thomas Müntzer in 1989. In the years that followed, Veth continued to work at various theaters.

Veth taught as a professor at the "Ernst Busch" Academy of Dramatic Arts in Berlin , which he temporarily headed as rector.

Veth was temporarily married to Heidemarie Wenzel . The marriage later ended in divorce. His second marriage was to Vera Naumann. His grave is in the Tolkewitz urn grove .
