Heidemarie Wenzel
Heidemarie Wenzel (born July 7, 1945 in Berlin ) is a German actress .
Life
Heidemarie Wenzel played in the children's theater and in the movement choir of the German State Opera in her youth . From 1963 to 1966 she studied at the Ernst Busch Academy of Dramatic Arts in Berlin . After graduating, she got her first engagements in Rostock and Greifswald . Very soon she started working as a freelance actress in film and television. She played her first major role as Fanny in the film adaptation of Johannes R. Becher's novel Abschied . The film by Egon Günther was strongly criticized by officials in East Germany due to the unusual narrative style. Wenzel had her breakthrough in the role of the self-confident teacher Susanne in the time of the storks . In Die Taube auf dem Dach (1973) she was able to really show off her acting talent for the first time, but the film was banned before its premiere. The pretty, tall, slim and blonde actress, who could appear both open and intelligent as well as introverted, was often cast for contemporary roles. She played several leading roles until the mid-1970s, but then got less and less good offers because she was considered politically unreliable. In 1986 she applied for an exit visa and was no longer occupied in the period that followed. Therefore, she had to work as an office clerk at the church during this time. In 1988 she was expatriated.
In the Federal Republic of Germany she became the all-German star in the series Our Hagenbecks from 1991 . When her film role died in an accident, there were public protests. In the 1990s, Wenzel appeared again more often in the theater.
Wenzel lives in Berlin-Tempelhof. She has a son and a daughter. In her first marriage Wenzel was married to the director Kurt Veth , which is why she sometimes called herself Heidemarie Wenzel-Veth. She is married to the director and author Helmut Nitzschke in her second marriage .
