Front ohne Gnade is a 13-part history series of television in the GDR . The series, produced by DEFA from 1981 to 1983 , was conceived as the successor to the Archive of Death series. Front without Mercy describes in several episodes the struggle of German resistance fighters from 1934 to the end of the Second World War. The series first aired from January 6 to March 30, 1984.

At the center of the plot is the communist resistance fighter Hermann Anders. The daredevil Heiner tied up with the maid Anni. She works in the house of Obersturmbannführer Maas and is now spying for Heiner and his friends Hermann and Lydia. But Maas' butler Cyrus finds Anni. Meanwhile, Hermann kidnaps the captain of the Condor Legion , Baron Gottfried von Lindeck, together with Pablo Calvo during the civil war in Spain .

End of the series in the epilogue: After a short imprisonment, Maas and Quantity work for the CIA and BND after the war .
