Armin Gröpler (* 11. July 1943 in Köthen ) is a German singer , opera - director and voice teacher .

Life

After training as a concrete worker and his NVA - military service studied Gröpler 1965-1969 singing at the Academy of Music in Dresden and debuted at the city theaters Zwickau . Between 1972 and 1974 he was banned from staying in East Berlin because of suspected plans to escape from the GDR (“ Berlin ban ”). After postgraduate studies in opera directing in Berlin (1974–1977), he worked between 1977 and 1984 as a director in the field of music theater at various theaters in the GDR , including at the houses in Halberstadt and Bautzen , as well as in Frankfurt an der Oder and Berlin .

At the same time he occasionally worked as a film actor in DEFA productions. In 1981 he also had a small role as a movers in the television series Hochhausgeschichten , which was produced for television in the GDR .

In 1984 Gröpler moved to the west . There he worked mainly at music and drama schools and privately as a singing teacher.

Gröpler had various teaching positions, including in the years 2001-2006 in the field of puppetry at the Academy of Dramatic Art "Ernst Busch" Berlin .

Since 1996 Gröpler lived again in the Prenzlauer Berg district ; since 2005 he has lived in Berlin-Friedrichshain .

In 2001 he appeared alongside former GDR artists and opponents such as Klaus Renft , Katja Lange-Müller and Jutta Voigt in Günter Kotte's documentary “Lampion - c'est si bon”. The film deals with the life of artists in the former GDR by means of interviews based on the biographies of the guests of the now defunct puppet theater and trendy bar "Lampion" in Prenzlauer Berg.

In 2005 Gröpler published the poetry volume "Berlin vom Dach". Gröpler is also active as a draftsman and painter . Furthermore, three volumes of poetry with colored pictures followed in 2013: The Philosopher , The Misanthropist and The Dreamer .
