Horst Giese

Horst Giese (born January 31, 1926 in Neuruppin ; † December 29, 2008 in Potsdam ) was a German actor and radio play maker .

Life

Giese became an actor in 1945, first on stage, then for television; from 1954 almost exclusively for DEFA . He often played smaller roles in almost 40 feature films and an even larger number of television films. He was cast several times as Joseph Goebbels .

An accident in 1972 forced him to take a longer professional break, during which he wrote the radio play The Very Strange Jazz Adventures of Mr. Lehmann and in which he spoke all roles: The radio play was not accepted by the radio of the GDR, but was only broadcast by Rias in 1991 . In 1992 it was awarded the renowned war blind radio play award; it was also radio play of the month in January 1991 . In 1982 he starred in the film The Stay, produced under the direction of Frank Beyer .

Horst Giese also worked as a Stasi informant; The case of involvement in the kidnapping of Carl August von Halle from West Berlin to East Berlin in 1956, which led to his conviction and imprisonment, is well documented.
