Kurt Weigel

Kurt Weigel (born March 19, 1950 in Cloppenburg ) is a Catholic priest , holiday chaplain, spiritual , retreat guide and author and worked as a priest on the North Sea island of Wangerooge .

Life

After his ordination in Münster Cathedral , he was first chaplain of the parish of St. Willehad on Wangerooge from 1980 to 1985 and then spiritual in the seminary in Limburg an der Lahn for nine years . At Pentecost 1994 Kurt Weigel was bid farewell in Limburg and returned to the island of Wangerooge as a pastor .

The parish consists of about 200 locals. During the Easter period and the summer holidays, however, the community is significantly larger due to vacationers, so that at these times Kurt Weigel invites a vacation team, consisting of around 15 to 20 people of all ages, to the rectory in St. Ansgar to support him for almost three weeks to offer a wide range of holiday pastoral care programs to the many believers.

Weigel retired on Easter Sunday, April 5th, 2015. Since May 2015 he has been performing priestly duties in the St. Vincenzstift in Aulhausen near Rüdesheim.

Kurt Weigel is known nationwide as the author of several works and through numerous radio and television speeches. Many of his texts and sermons are published on CD.

In 2007 he was awarded the Comenius Prize for his educational and community engagement .
