Kurt Weinmann

Kurt Weinmann (born December 5, 1922 in Möglingen ; † January 24, 2007 ) was a German chemist and entrepreneur in the chemical industry.

Live and act

After graduating from high school in Bad Cannstatt (1941), working and military service, Weinmann studied chemistry, physics and mathematics at the Technical University of Stuttgart and at the Eberhard Karls University of Tübingen from the summer semester of 1942 . In June 1947 he passed the state examination. He then worked until August 1950 as a student trainee and study assessor in the higher education service in Württemberg. From September 1950 he worked at a research institute and in an industrial laboratory in Stuttgart on his dissertation. In 1952 he received his doctorate from Hellmut Bredereck at the Technical University of Stuttgart with a thesis on binders for stoving enamels with water as a solvent. His professional activity initially led him to Robert Bosch GmbH , where he was responsible for coatings and plastics. In 1959 he became the commercial and technical manager of a chemical and paint factory. From 1962 to 1964 he was chief chemist and authorized signatory at the Lesonal works . At the Technical Academy Esslingen (TAE) he had been a course director and lecturer at the Institute for Contact Studies at the University of Stuttgart since 1965.

On May 1st, 1967 Weinmann joined Loba-Holmenkol-Chemie as managing director. Fischer and Dr. Weinmann KG in Ditzingen . Two years later he became personally liable managing partner and main partner. He held this position until 1990. In 1975 he became a commercial judge at the Stuttgart Regional Court .

Weinmann was chairman of the board of trustees of the Institute for Building Physics of the Fraunhofer Society as well as an employee and for many years chairman of the German Institute for Standardization and board member at the Institute for Building with Plastics (IBK). His success in scientific work was reflected in numerous patents and around 160 scientific publications. In 1982 he was appointed professor.

After his death on January 24, 2007, he was buried in the forest cemetery in Stuttgart .
