Cutin

Cutin or Kutin (Akkruste) is a polyester-type substance in combination with cellulose , pectin and waxes in the cuticle of plant cells can be found, making them nearly impervious to water. Cutin can be cleaved from fungi and into pollen by cutinase . Chemically, it is a heteropolymer with ester bonds between the monomers . The monomers are based on either C 16 or C 18 hydroxy fatty acid structures.

A cell wall reinforced by cutin secretion is referred to as cutinized .
