Kyle Callahan (born December 26, 1986 ) is a retired American football player .

Life

Callahan played football as a student at Covington Catholic High School in his hometown of Covington , Kentucky . The player used as quarterback and wide receiver then belonged to the university team of Union College in the NAIA League . One of his coaches there was the former German national player Marco Knorr , on whose mediation Callahan landed in the German GFL in the run-up to the 2009 season with the Kiel Baltic Hurricanes . In the state capital of Schleswig-Holstein , Callahan played under coach Kent Anderson and reached the final of the German championship with the team, which they lost to the Berlin Adler in early October 2009 . The Berliners signed him for the 2010 game year. At the beginning of July 2010 he won the Eurobowl with the eagles . Shortly thereafter, he tore a cruciate ligament.

In January 2011 Callahan, who was praised for his leadership skills, his understanding of the game and his athleticism, was introduced as a new addition to the Swarco Raiders Tirol , where he played under head coach Shuan Fatah , as in Berlin . The Innsbruck led Callahan 2011 on winning the Austrian Cup and to victory in the Euro Bowl . In 2012 and 2013 he was Austrian runner-up with the team, in July 2013 he was also in the Eurobowl with Innsbruck, but lost to Vienna there. From January 2014 Callahan, who was described as "one of the best and most successful quarterbacks" in the club's history, acted at the Swarco Raiders as assistant coach for the wide receivers and as a coach in the youth field, at the same time he remained active as a wide receiver as a player for the team . In April 2015 he was back on the pitch as a quarterback for the Tyroleans for the first time since 2013. While he later devoted himself to his coaching duties, he strengthened the second team of the Swarco Raiders. At times Callahan was also part of the coaching staff of the Austrian national team. In his home country, the United States, Callahan also worked as a trainer at training events for young people.
