Kymera

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Kymera was a German hard rock band.

history

In 1984 the two brothers Bruno and Oscar Di Blasio (Di Blasio Bros) founded the band "Dragon" in Karlsruhe together with Bernd and Stefan Lüddemann (former musicians of the teeny band Hot Legs ) . The quartet was completed with the singer Andi Deris ( Helloween , ex- Pink Cream 69 ). After a few concerts in southern Germany, the band went to Edo Zanki's studio in Karlsdorf and immediately afterwards to the Arco studio in Munich to make their first recordings with producer Anthony Monn .

The following songs were recorded: I Was Made to Be with You , Call me up , Woman , I Hear the Angels Singing , Ballad of Glory and Rock Your Body Down . Some drum parts were recorded by Bodo Schopf (ex- Michael Schenker Group ). In 1986 bassist Daniel De Niro and drummer Ralf Maurer alias "Ralph Mason" joined the band.

Shortly thereafter, Kymera went to the Katapult sound studio in Karlsruhe and recorded new songs: Hello USA , Hot Looking Romeo , Send Me a Letter and newly arranged versions of I Was Made to Be With You , Call Me Up and Woman . Kymera signed a contract with the publisher Francis, Day & Hunter in Hamburg and replaced Ralf Maurer with Kosta Zafiriou ( Pink Cream 69 ). Shadows Are Falling , Lonely Would Be Loving You and a new version of Ballad of Glory were recorded in a Mainz studio . After numerous concerts all over Germany, Andi Deris and Kosta Zafiriou left Kymera in early 1987 and founded Pink Cream 69.

The debut EP Animality was recorded in 1988 with the new singer Michael Moretto and drummer André Simon and released in 1989.

Shortly before the start of the “Animality Tour”, drummer André Simon died and was replaced by Dominik Hülshorst (ex- Bonfire ). In February 1990 Kymera played live for the last time in the music club "Garage" in Rastatt , together with Pink Cream 69.
