The L'Unione Sarda is the oldest and most widespread newspaper Sardinia . It was founded in 1889 and the current editor-in-chief is Paolo Figus.

The editorial offices are located in Cagliari , Nuoro , Olbia , Oristano , Quartu Sant'Elena and Sassari . Communication offices are in Carbonia , Iglesias , Lanusei , Macomer , Sanluri and Rome . It was one of the first European daily newspapers to have a web presence in 1994. In 2008, the newspaper had a circulation of 67,058 copies.

Political orientation

Politically, the L'Unione Sarda was traditionally a center-oriented newspaper. In recent years, however, since the purchase by Sergio Zuncheddu, there has been a rapprochement with the political center-right movement and the PDL .

She is known for having campaigned against Renato Soru . The cause of these attacks on Soru and its operations in the area could, according to some, be in real estate deals.

Soru had prevented a real estate project along the Villasismius coast and other construction projects in Cagliari with the “Salva Coste” ( Save Coasts ) law . He is also said to have prevented the public purchase of properties that had been built by Zuncheddu.
