Sanluri is an Italian municipality ( comune ) with 8385 inhabitants (as of December 31, 2019) in the province of Sud Sardegna in Sardinia . From 2005 to 2016, Sanluri was the seat of the provincial administration and the president of the province of Medio Campidano. The provincial capital Villacidro is 18 kilometers southwest of Sanluri.

history

Numerous archaeological finds emphasize the importance of the settlement, especially in the Middle Ages . In 1409 the battle of Sanluri takes place : the kingdoms of Aragon and Sicily defeat the rule of Arborea and the Genoese Doria allied with it .

traffic

Strada Statale 131 Carlo Felice , Strada Statale 197 di San Gavino e del Flumine and Strada Statale 293 di Giba run through the municipality . The narrow-gauge railway (950 mm) from Isili to Villacidro has been closed since 1958. On the likewise non-electrified (standard gauge) railway line Cagliari – Golfo Aranci Marittima , however, there is still the peripheral Sanluri Stato station , which, however, is no longer served by passenger traffic.
