Arbus is a municipality in the province of Sud Sardegna on the Italian island of Sardinia .

geography

Arbus is the second largest administrative unit of Sardinia with an area of ​​267 km². The coast of Arbus (the Costa Verde) extends over 47 km from Capo Frasca to Capo Pecora and has numerous beaches; from north to south: Capo Frasca, Pistis, Torre dei Corsari , Porto Palma, Babari, Funtanazza, Gutturu Flumini (Marina di Arbus), Portu Maga, Piscinas, Scivu and Capo Pecora.

Characteristic of Arbus is the wide coastal strip of the Costa Verde, which is characterized by its bays and archaeological sites, such as the remains of buildings of the Nuragic culture from the Bronze Age , Phoenician, Roman and Byzantine ruins and Spanish pirate towers. There are numerous industrial monuments of mining in the municipality , including the mines in the locality of Montevecchio . The 781 m high Monte Arcuentu can be climbed via a path (access approx. 4 km from Montevecchio) and offers a wide view of the southwest coast of Sardinia.
