San Gavino Monreale is a Sardinian city in the province of Sud Sardegna with 8400 inhabitants (as of December 31, 2019). It is located on the Rio Pardue in the Campidano plain between Sanluri and Guspini .
Attractions
To the north of the village are the castle ruins of Monreale, the Terme di Sardara, the fountain sanctuary Santa Anastasia and the nuragic settlement of Genna Maria .
Around 70,000 visitors come to the Carnival in San Gavino Monreale every year. The feast of San Gavino is the modern version of the ancient story of the scapegoat being led to the sacrificial altar.

The place is known for the saffron production. The saffron threads are the hand-picked, brilliant red scarred lobes of the saffron crocus flower, with a very intense aroma.
