Villasalto is an Italian municipality ( comune ) with 1016 inhabitants (as of December 31, 2019) in the province of Sud Sardegna in Sardinia . The municipality is located about 39.5 kilometers northeast of Cagliari at the Parco Geominerario Storico ed Ambientale della Sardegna . The Flumendosa flows through the municipality . There are numerous caves and grottos in the area of Villasalto. Minerals were mined here for a long time.
