Fluminimaggiore is an Italian municipality ( comune ) with 2807 inhabitants (as of December 31, 2019) in the province of Sud Sardegna in Sardinia . The municipality is located about 31 kilometers from Carbonia and about 14 kilometers north-northwest of Iglesias at the Parco Geominerario Storico ed Ambientale della Sardegna . In the northwest there is a small stretch of coast to the Mediterranean Sea .

history

In the vicinity of Fluminimaggiore is the Punic temple of Antas from around 500 BC. Traces of settlement that date back to the Nuragic culture have also been discovered on the soil of today's community.
