Lanusei is an Italian municipality ( comune ) with 5283 inhabitants (as of December 31, 2019) in the province of Nuoro in Sardinia . The municipality is located about eleven kilometers southwest of Tortolì . Because of its exclave , the municipality is located directly on the Tyrrhenian Sea .

history

Lanusei was first mentioned in 1119, although the two giant graves in the community (found in 1956 - Tomba I - and 1964 - Tomba II) already indicate settlement in the Stone Age. The Lanusei diocese has existed since 1824 . The place gained importance through the school of the Salesians Don Bosco , who settled here among other things.

In May 2015, Lanusei entered into a partnership with the small German town of Meerane near Zwickau in Saxony.
