László Kövér (2011)

László Kövér (born December 29, 1959 in Pápa ) is a Hungarian diplomat and politician . He was one of the founding members of the Fidesz movement in 1988 . Kövér has been a member of the Hungarian Parliament since 1990 and has been its President since August 6, 2010. After the resignation of President Pál Schmitt on April 2, 2012, he temporarily took over the management of his official business until János Áder was elected as the new head of state on May 2, 2012 .

In 2012, Kövér demonstratively took part in commemorations for the ethnic poet József Nyírő , which led to diplomatic resentments with Israel .
