László Szűcs (born October 27, 1969 in Sajószentpéter , Hungary ) is a former Hungarian boxer and quarter-finalist of the 1992 Olympic Games in the light welterweight division .

Boxing career

His greatest success in youth was winning the silver medal in featherweight at the 1987 World Junior Championships in Havana .

At the European Championships in Greece in 1989 he was eliminated in the quarterfinals with 2: 3 against Giorgio Campanella, at the 1990 World Cup in Ireland in the preliminary round against Hong Sung-sik and at the 1991 World Championships in Australia also in the preliminary round against Candelario Duvergel .

In March 1992 he took part in the European Olympic qualification in Italy and fought his way to the 1992 Olympic Games in Barcelona with victories against Tibor Rafael , Leonard Doroftei and Abdelkader Wahabi . At the Olympic Games, he was able to defeat Trevor Shailer and Daniel Fulanse before he was eliminated in the quarter-finals against Jyri Kjäll .

At the 1993 World Championships in Finland he was defeated in the quarterfinals against Oleg Saitow and lost to Bolat Nijasymbetow at the 1994 World Cup in Thailand . He was also a participant in the 1995 World Championships in Germany .

From 1998 to 2006 László Szűcs won ten professional fights in Hungary.
