Lågemade Fyr or lighthouse Laagmai is a small lighthouse ( Danish Fyr ) near Egernsund on the Danish side of the Flensburg Fjord .
background
At that time, after the German-Danish War, the area still belonged to the German Empire . At the end of the 19th century, more and more naval units were relocated to the Fördestadt Flensburg. The fjord was used in particular for torpedo boat exercises, so that the torpedo station in Flensburg-Mürwik was ultimately built at the beginning of the 20th century . In 1905 it was decided to relocate German naval units from Kiel to Flensburg and Sønderborg . During the same period, most of the lighthouses on the Flensburg Fjord were built, which is why it is assumed that this development may have played a role in the construction of the lighthouses.
The Laagmai lighthouse was built in 1896 near the small town of Laagmai (Danish: Lågemade) east of the Egernsund Sound . It was made identical to the lighthouse from Rinkenis and the lighthouse from Skodsbøl . A plate with the inscription "Maschinen-Fabrik N. Jepsen Sohn Flensburg" painted over was attached to the lighthouse door. The factory in question was manufactured at Margarethenhof in Flensburg . From 1906, the Holnis lighthouse keeper was given the additional task of observing the neighboring Laagmai and Rinkenis fires. After the referendum in Schleswig in 1920, the lighthouse was handed over to the Danish administration.
The lighthouse provides an underfire . The associated top light of the lighthouse is above the lighthouse, at a distance of about 700 meters. The lighthouse is now in the middle of the village of Egernsund. The Gendarmstien hiking trail now runs along the lighthouse.
