Skodsbøl Fyr or Schottsbüll lighthouse is a small lighthouse ( Danish Fyr ) between Rendbjerg and Broager on the Danish side of the Flensburg Fjord .

background

The lighthouse was built in 1896 south of the small village of Schottsbüll ( Skodsbøl in Danish ). At that time, after the German-Danish War, the area still belonged to the German Empire . At the end of the 19th century, more and more naval units were relocated to the Fördestadt Flensburg. The fjord was used in particular for torpedo boat exercises, so that the torpedo station in Flensburg-Mürwik was ultimately built at the beginning of the 20th century . In 1905 it was decided to relocate German naval units from Kiel to Flensburg and Sønderborg . During the same period, most of the lighthouses on the Flensburg Fjord were built, which is why it is assumed that this development may have played a role in the construction of the lighthouses.

The said lighthouse was constructed identically to the lighthouse from Lågemade and the lighthouse from Rinkenæs . On the lighthouse door of the lighthouse there is a plate with the inscription "Maschinen-Fabrik N. Jepsen Sohn Flensburg" painted over. The factory in question was located at Margarethenhof in Flensburg . After the referendum in Schleswig in 1920, the lighthouse was handed over to the Danish administration. In 1976 the lighthouse was modernized. The old lighting system was dismantled and two electric lanterns were installed, one of which serves as a reserve.

The lighthouse stands in the middle of a field. The associated rear light of the lighthouse is further north 54 ° 54 '6 "  N , 9 ° 38' 54"  O . The Schottsbüll lighthouse is not only recognizable from the waterfront. Highway 401 to the north also allows a view of the lighthouse. In addition, the Gendarmstien runs along the lighthouse.
