Léré ( Arabic ليري) is a city in southwestern Chad .
location
The city is located in the Mayo-Kebbi Ouest region in the Léré department near the border with Cameroon . It is located on Mayo Kébbi between the two lakes Léré and Tréné . It is the capital of the settlement area of the Mundang people.
history
In the middle of the 18th century, the kingdom of Léré was established , it was an independent state of the Moundang that covered about 2,000 km² and was ruled from Léré. On November 4, 1911, the city was assigned to the German colonial territories under the Franco-German agreement and incorporated into the Garoua residence .
