The Lónsvík ( German "lagoon bay " ) is a bay in the east of Iceland .
This bay on the open sea is located between the Eystrahorn and the Vestrahorn about 25 km northeast of Höfn . It is 21 km wide and extends 3 km into the country. The Fjörur Spit forms its bank . Behind the spit is the bay Lón ( Eng . "Lagoon"), which merges into the Lónsfjörður , about in the middle is the mouth of the Jökulsá í Lóni and in the west of the Papafjörður . The Hvalnes lighthouse is on the eastern edge of the bay .
