William O. Burgin

William Olin Burgin (born July 28, 1877 near Marion , McDowell County , North Carolina , † April 11, 1946 in Washington, DC ) was an American politician .

Burgin was born in 1877 on a farm near the town of Marion. The family later moved to Rutherfordton . Burgin attended the Law School of the University of North Carolina in Chapel Hill . He worked in a general store in Rutherfordton in 1893 and later worked as a traveling salesman and merchant. Burgin moved to Thomasville , where he started doing business again. From 1906 to 1910 he held the office of mayor of the city. In 1931 he was a member of the North Carolina House of Representatives ; In 1933 he was a member of the State Senate .

Burgin was a Democrat in Congress voted and represented there from 3 January 1939 until his death in his home federal state in the US House of Representatives . He was buried in Lexington Cemetery in Lexington , where he moved after serving as Mayor of Thomasville.
