William Carter Love

William Carter Love (* 1784 near Norfolk , Virginia , †  1835 in Salisbury , North Carolina ) was an American politician . Between 1815 and 1817 he represented the state of North Carolina in the US House of Representatives .

Career

The exact date of birth and death of William Love are not known. In his youth he came to Chapel Hill , North Carolina, where he received home schooling. After a subsequent law degree and his admission as a lawyer, he began to work in Salisbury in 1806 in this profession. At the same time he struck a political career as a member of the Democratic Republican Party founded by Thomas Jefferson .

In the congressional election of 1814 Love was elected to the US House of Representatives in Washington, DC , in the tenth constituency of North Carolina , where he succeeded Joseph Pearson on March 4, 1815 . Until March 3, 1817 he was able to complete a legislative period in Congress . After leaving the US House of Representatives, William Love practiced again as a lawyer in Salisbury, where he died in 1835.
