David Rouzer (2015)

David Rouzer (born February 16, 1972 in Landstuhl , Rhineland-Palatinate , Germany ) is an American politician . Since January 2015 he has represented the state of North Carolina in the US House of Representatives .

Career

David Rouzer attended Northern High School in Durham and then studied agriculture and chemistry at North Carolina State University in Raleigh until 1994 . Then he worked as a private businessman. Among other things, he still heads the Rouzer Company to this day . Politically, he joined the Republican Party . In 2005 and 2006 he worked for the US Department of Agriculture . Between 1996 and 2000 he was on the staff of US Senator Jesse Helms ; from 2003 to 2005 he was on the staff of Elizabeth Dole, who was also a Senator for North Carolina. Between 2009 and 2012, Rouzer served in the North Carolina Senate . In 2000 he unsuccessfully applied for the office of Minister of Agriculture in his state, and in 2012 his first candidacy for Congress failed .

In the 2014 congressional election , however, Rouzer was elected to the US House of Representatives in Washington, DC , in the seventh constituency of North Carolina , where he succeeded Democrat Mike McIntyre , who was no longer running, on January 3, 2015 . He won with 59:35 percent of the vote against Jonathan Barfield. Since he was confirmed in office in 2016, he will also serve in the 115th Congress of the United States, which meets on January 3, 2017 . His new legislative term runs until January 3, 2019 with the option of a further candidacy in 2018.
