Career

Frederick Woodard attended private schools in his home country. After a subsequent law degree and his admission as a lawyer in 1873, he began to work in Wilson in this profession. At the same time he was active in the banking industry. In this industry he made it to the position of Vice President of the First National Bank of Wilson . Politically, Woodard was a member of the Democratic Party . In 1884 he ran unsuccessfully for Congress .

In the congressional elections of 1892 Woodard was then elected to the US House of Representatives in Washington, DC in the second constituency of North Carolina , where he succeeded Henry P. Cheatham on March 4, 1893 . After re-election in 1894, he was able to complete two terms in Congress until March 3, 1897. In the elections of 1896 Woodard was defeated by Republican George Henry White . After leaving the US House of Representatives, he practiced again as a lawyer in Wilson, where he died on May 8, 1915.
