Joseph Wilson Ervin

Joseph Wilson Ervin (born March 3, 1901 in Morganton , North Carolina , †  December 25, 1945 in Washington, DC ) was an American politician . Between January and December 1945 he represented the state of North Carolina in the US House of Representatives .

Career

Joseph Ervin attended the public schools in his home country and then studied law at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill until 1923, among other things. After his admission to the bar in 1923, he began to work in this profession in Charlotte .

Politically, Ervin was a member of the Democratic Party . In the 1944 congressional elections he was elected to the US House of Representatives in Washington in the tenth constituency of North Carolina, where he succeeded Cameron A. Morrison on January 3, 1945 . Joseph Ervin continued his mandate until his death on December 25, 1945. On this day he committed because of severe pain associated with a disease suicide . In a by-election, his brother, who later became US Senator Sam Ervin (1896–1985), was elected as his successor. World War II ended during Ervin's time as a congressman .
