Patrick Timothy McHenry (born October 22, 1975 in Charlotte , North Carolina ) is an American politician . Since 2005 he has represented the state of North Carolina in the US House of Representatives .

Career

Patrick McHenry attended Ashbrook High School in Gastonia until 1994 . He then studied at North Carolina State University in Raleigh and then until 1999 at Belmont Abbey College . He then worked as a real estate agent.

Politically, McHenry joined the Republican Party . In 2001 he got a position with the US Department of Labor . From 2002 to 2004 he was a member of the North Carolina House of Representatives . In the 2004 congressional election , McHenry was elected to the US House of Representatives in Washington, DC , in the tenth constituency of North Carolina , where he succeeded Cass Ballenger on January 3, 2005 . As he was re-elected in all subsequent elections, including the one in 2016, he can continue to exercise his mandate today. His latest legislative period runs until January 3, 2019. He is or was a member ofFinance Committee and in the Committee on Oversight and Government Reform as well as in a total of five sub-committees.
