Gilbert B. Patterson

Gilbert Brown Patterson (born May 29, 1863 in Maxton , Robeson County , North Carolina , †  January 26, 1922 ibid) was an American politician . Between 1903 and 1907 he represented the state of North Carolina in the US House of Representatives .

Career

Gilbert Patterson attended the Shoe Heel Academy and Laurinburg High School and then studied at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill until 1886 . After studying law and being admitted to the bar in 1890, he began to work in this profession in Maxton. At the same time he embarked on a political career as a member of the Democratic Party . Between 1899 and 1901 Patterson was a member of the North Carolina House of Representatives .

In the congressional elections of 1902 he was elected to the US House of Representatives in Washington, DC in the sixth constituency of North Carolina , where he succeeded John Dillard Bellamy on March 4, 1903 . After re-election, he was able to complete two legislative terms in Congress until March 3, 1907 . After retiring from the US House of Representatives, Gilbert Patterson practiced law again. He died in Maxton on January 26, 1922.
