Archibald Hunter Arrington

Archibald Hunter Arrington (born November 13, 1809 in Nashville , Nash County , North Carolina , †  July 20, 1872 ibid) was an American politician ( Democratic Party ) who represented the state of North Carolina in the US House of Representatives and the Confederate Congress .

Archibald Arrington first attended the school in Hilliardston and later the college in Louisburg . He then studied law , but did not work as a lawyer afterwards, but became a planter . In 1840 he was elected for the Democrats in Congress , which he belonged to after re-election from March 4, 1841 to March 3, 1845. In 1844 he applied unsuccessfully for another term of office.

As a supporter of the Confederation , Arrington took part in the Secession Convention of his home state in 1861. He won the election to the House of Representatives of the first Confederate Congress , but failed here too when attempting re-election. After the Civil War he was a delegate to the National Union Convention in Philadelphia in 1866 . He then took on a number of local offices in Nash County before retiring on his plantation. Archibald Arrington was the uncle of Congressman Archibald Williams .
