Dan Bishop

J. Daniel "Dan" Bishop (born July 1, 1964 in Charlotte , North Carolina ) is an American politician ( Republican Party ).

Life

Bishop grew up with four siblings in North Carolina. He studied at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill , where he received a Bachelor of Science (BS) in 1986 and a Juris Doctor in 1990 . Also in 1990 he was admitted to the bar.

In 2014, Bishop was elected to the North Carolina House of Representatives. He was a member from 2015 to 2017. As of 2017, he was a Senator in the North Carolina Senate .

In September 2019, he was elected to the United States House of Representatives in a by-election in North Carolina's ninth congressional district. The by-election had become necessary because the actual election in November 2018 was canceled due to allegations of manipulation. Bishop has now resigned from the North Carolina Senate.

Bishop is married and has one son.
