The previously separately managed landscape protection area Lößnitz (d33) is mainly located in the Saxon town of Radebeul . It has a size of 586 hectares, thus a good fifth of the Radebeul city area of a total of 2606 hectares (status: 2010). Around 2014 it was merged with the north-western protected area and is now part of the extended named area Friedewald, Moritzburger Teichgebiet and Lößnitz (d17).

The landscape protection area was decided on July 4, 1974 by the Dresden District Assembly. It comprises the steep slope area of the Lusatian Fault on the right bank of the Elbe within the Lößnitz landscape, including some areas at the foot of the slope and on the plateau. These include, in particular, large parts of the vineyard meadows that characterize the Lößnitz (see also the large Radebeuler Lößnitz site and the Radebeul historic vineyard protected area ), the Rietzschkegrund , the Himmelsbusch , the Radebeul-West forest park and the Lößnitzgrund with its side valleys such as Dorfgrund and Rieselgrund . In addition, there is the source area of the Strakener source system . Outside Radebeul, this includes the extension of the associated Fiedlergrund to Neureichenberg in the east as well as the entire valley of the Lößnitzbach further north to Dippelsdorf on the Großenhainer Straße, including the local train station of the Lößnitzgrundbahn (Friedewald [Dresden] Bad).

The 115 hectare fauna-flora-habitat area Lößnitzgrund and Lößnitzhang ( Natura 2000 area, EU registration number: DE4847304, state internal number: 159) is largely within the landscape protection area.
