The new Lion Bridge, completed in 2015

The Löwenbrücke is a 30 meter long and eight meter wide road bridge over the mill arm of the Fulda in the area of the city of Hann. Münden in southern Lower Saxony . It connects the old town, in the area of the Kasseler Schlagd , with the river island of the Tanzwerder .

The bridge has different predecessors under the name Tanzwerderbrücke , which led to the river island that has been in use for centuries. Nothing more is known about the type of previous bridges, such as wood or stone construction. The current name as the Lion Bridge is based on the figure of the bridge lion that was erected by the river in the 19th century .

The current bridge was built from spring 2015 and was opened to traffic on October 1, 2015. The structure was built for 1.12 million euros and is known as the new Lion Bridge. After completion, the old Lion Bridge built in 1967 was torn down. It had become dilapidated and had to be secured in 2012. The new Lion Bridge was built about 20 meters downstream from the old Lion Bridge.

The bridge is mainly frequented by motor vehicles on the way to a parking lot on Tanzwerder.
