The founder

The founder and now CEO and Chairman of the company is Leslie Wexner . He is considered the richest resident of Ohio. 1984 he founded a foundation named after him. The Wexner Center for the Arts at Ohio State University in Columbus is named after his father . Wexner owned by the mega-yacht Limitless (Eng .: Limitless) - at the time it was built the largest yacht in the United States - whose name is a play on the company name.

history

Wexner's parents emigrated from Russia in 1912 and ran their own clothing store in Columbus from 1951 to 1964, after their mother Bella Cabakoff had previously worked in purchasing for the US department store chain Lazarus for two decades. In 1963, Leslie Wexner started his own business in a mall in Upper Arlington, using $ 5,000 in seed money borrowed from his aunt . He initially called it The Limited because, unlike that of his parents, it was limited to young women's fashion. The shop where Father Harry Weixner until his death in 1975 chairman was and the mother was represented on the Executive Board until her death in 2001, successfully developed. In 1969 the company was floated on the stock exchange and was given its current name; the family continued to hold 17% of the shares. In 1977 the company moved to its current location. In the 1980s, it continued to expand significantly, also due to several takeovers, including the largest 25 Abercrombie & Fitch stores in 1988 . A few new labels were founded in the 1990s and A&F was sold again in 1996. In 2007, the investment company Sun Capital Partners took over a majority stake of 75% in the apparel division of Limited Brands. The company has been operating under the name L Brands since 2013.

Brands

Other sales brands of the group include Victoria's Secret - known worldwide for the annual Victoria's Secret Fashion Show -, Pink, Bath & Body Works , Henri Bendel, CO Bigelow, The White Barn Candle Company and La Senza; 75% of the Express brand was sold to Golden Gate Capital in 2007 .
