La Cienega is a town in the Potosí department in the South American Andean state of Bolivia .

Location in the vicinity

La Cienega is the central place of the canton La Cienega in the district ( Bolivian : Municipio ) Mojinete in the province of Sur Lípez . The village is located at an altitude of 3793  m on a tributary of the Río Guadalupe , which flows into the Río San Juan del Oro at Mojinete , one of the headwaters of the Río Pilcomayo .

La Cienega is located in the Cordillera de Lípez range on the southern edge of the Bolivian Altiplano on the Argentine border. The region's climate is typical of the time of day , with the mean temperature fluctuation during the day being more pronounced than during the course of the seasons.
