Cienega Valley AVA (recognized since August 19, 1982) is a wine-growing region in the US state of California . The area is located in the western part of the administrative area of San Benito County and is part of the parent Central Coast AVA and San Benito AVA . Immediately to the north of this is the Lime Kiln Valley AVA . The area was once the main supplier of grapes of the winery Almaden Vineyards before that in 1987 the conglomerate Constellation Brands was acquired.

The vineyards are about 340 m above sea level. NN . The San Andreas Fault runs right through the area. While the soil east of the fault consists mainly of weathered granite and limestone, sandstone and granite predominate on the western side.
