La Coka Nostra (short LCN ) is an American hip-hop - supergroup consisting of Everlast , DJ Lethal , Danny Boy, (all previously at House of Pain ), Ill Bill (previously with Non Phixion ) and Slaine ( Special Teamz ).
history
La Coka Nostra was created in 2005 as a loose association of artists who were connected by Danny Boy. After House of Pain broke up, Danny Boy initially abandoned rap to invest time in video production, fashion and advising other artists. He met Slaine in Boston and was able to inspire him with his texts. Then the two wanted to record a few tracks together. Other artists joined in, including former members of House of Pain, Ill Bill, and members of Psycho Realm , Special Teamz, and more. In 2006 the line-up had solidified and they were working on a joint album.
At the end of 2008 La Coka Nostra came under contract with the punk / hardcore label Suburban Noize Records and released the debut album A Brand You Can Trust on July 14, 2009 . A Brand You Can Trust includes 15 songs, including guest appearances by Snoop Dogg , Bun B, Sick Jacken, B-Real , Sen Dog , Immortal Technique , Big Left and Q-Unique. Thematically, the album is about politics, death, drug addiction and terrorism.
On March 2, 2012, Everlast announced that he was leaving La Coka Nostra to spend more time with his sick daughter. On July 31, 2012 the second album "Masters of the Dark Art" was released with guest appearances by Vinnie Paz, Sean Price , Thirstin Howl III, Sick Jacken and Big Left.
