La Grange is a city in the US state of Kentucky . It is located in Oldham County and is its county seat .
history
The place was founded in 1827 and designated the administrative seat of the county in the same year; this administrative seat moved back to Westport the following year , before finally remaining with La Grange from 1838. A post office was set up here as early as 1828.
La Grange only experienced a notable boom in the middle of the 19th century when the railway reached the town. This historic town center is listed on the National Register of Historic Places .
La Grange is the birthplace of the influential film director, writer and actor David Wark Griffith (1875-1948).
