Labbeck originally belonged to the Duchy of Kleve . During the French occupation in the early 19th century in the canton of Xanten arrondissement Kleve in the department of Roer the Mairie set Labbeck. It comprised the three small villages of Balberg, Hammerbruch and Labbeck. After the Rhineland fell to Prussia in 1815, the Mairie Labbeck became the mayor's office or the rural community of Labbeck, which initially belonged to the Rheinberg district , then from 1823 to the Geldern district and from 1857 to the Moers district. Since 1935 the community Labbeck belonged to the office Sonsbeck.
