Laccainic acids
The laccainic acids are anthraquinone derivatives and the coloring components of the red dye Lac Dye , which is obtained from the lacquer scale insects . The mixture of laccainic acids AE is also known as CI Natural Red 25 (natural red 25).
Chemical structures
The laccainic acids are a group of five anthraquinone dyes that are contained in the insect dye Lac Dye. In addition to the main component laccainic acid A , these include laccainic acids B – E:

Occurrence and use
Like carminic acid or kermess acid, laccainic acids are insect pigments obtained from scale insects. They are the colored components of Lac Dye.
