Lacombe is a city in the Canadian province of Alberta . It is located in the Central Alberta region between Edmonton in the north and Red Deer in the south.

history

The city was named after Albert Lacombe , who lived among the Blackfoot and Cree for years, proselytized them, brokered peace between them, negotiated the construction of the Canadian Pacific Railway through Indian lands and secured the promise of cessation from the 1885 uprising from Blackfoot chief Crowfoot .

The Michener House and the Michener Park reminiscent of a well-known and influential Governor General of Canada named Roland Michener was the citizens of Lacombe.

The film industry has made several uses of the restored Edwardian Baroque setting on Main Street.

Anna Maria Kaufmann also grew up in Lacombe.

education

In addition to the Adventist Canadian University College , Lacombe also has the Lacombe Composite High School with approx. 800 students in grades 10-12 and the Central Alberta Christian High School (CACHS) with over 160 students.

economy

In addition to gas and oil extraction, agriculture in particular determines the economy on the fertile soils. There is also a cattle breeding facility, the Lacombe Research Center .
