The Lady Denison Pender - Sandbank , engl. Lady Denison-Pender Shoal , belongs to the Amiranten , an island chain in the western Indian Ocean .
Lady Denison-Pender is a feared shoal in seafaring , as it is only a maximum of 15 meters below sea level, while the adjacent sea area offers water depths of over 300 meters. It is located 10 km northwest of North Island , the north island of the African Banks sandbank group and at the same time the northernmost island of the Outer Islands of the island republic of Seychelles , and thus marks the northern end of the Amiranten island chain.
The sandbank is named after the English steamship " CS Lady Denison Pender ", which was a cable laying machine in the Indian Ocean from 1934 to 1938.
