At 244 kilometers, the Lagan is the longest river in the southern Swedish highlands.
It rises in the municipality of Värnamo , forms the Vidösternsee , flows among other things through the place Ljungby and flows in the municipality Laholm in the place Mellbystrand in the Laholmsbucht (Swedish: "Laholmsbukten"), part of the Kattegat . An old trade route, the "Lagastig", exists along the Lagan.
