Lajos Gönczy

Lajos Gönczy (born February 24, 1881 in Szeged , † December 4, 1915 in Galicia ) was a Hungarian high jumper who took part in three Olympic Games.

At the Olympic Games in Paris in 1900 he was third in the high jump with 1.75 m ( Irving Baxter won with 1.90 m in front of Patrick Leahy with 1.78 m).

In 1904 in St. Louis he was fourth in the high jump and fifth in the standing vault .

At the Olympic Intermediate Games in 1906 , he won silver in the high jump with 1.75 m behind Con Leahy (1.775 m) and was fifth in the standing high jump.

In 1904 and 1905 he became national champion. He set his best performance of 1.82 m in 1902.
