Lakeside is a census-designated place with 1679 inhabitants (as of 2000) in the USA on the northwest coast of Flathead Lake , a lake in the state of Montana , around 110 km south of the Canadian border.
history
In the 19th century the place was called Stoner , named after the first postmaster John Stoner, who ran a hotel on Stoner Creek. The name was later changed to Chautauqua , then Lacon and finally to Lakeside in 1920 .
